3/29 - Arrival in HKG

Just off of a very pleasant flight, in very nice seats, from Bangkok. Had a great time watching episodes of Little Britain, The Office, and Arrested Development, especially because I could start and stop them at will. I've found that TV shows are just the thing on flights for me. Due to my shortened attention span (is it the lack of oxygen?) I often find that most movies won't hold my interest, so a half-hour show, especially comedic, is perfect.

Just had one of the nicest showers of my entire life in the lounge (comparing only with my previous HKG shower back in January). We were lucky enough that they let us in for tonight, and not just on the actual day of our flight. Perhaps this is policy and I wasn't aware of it. Anyway, now the lounge will close on us for 4.5 hours. Must go.

Do Aubrie's Pocahontas boots have steel toes and ankle supports? Here's where I left off in Gogol's "Dead Souls" last night:

"...he was a great lover of boots apparently, for he had already had four pairs made to order for him and now had been trying on a fifth pair for a long while. He went over to his bed a number of times, intending to kick them off and lie down, but he couldn't bring himself to do it: the boots were so wonderfully constructed that he kept lifting a foot again and again, to examine the beautifully shaped heel."

Did Aubrie do that?

Such a conundrum, which blog entry to post a comment on: the latest or the one pertaining to what comments the commenter may have?

The automatic doors at Rite-Aid just closed on me.

I have to repectfully disagree with Mr. C. on his take on the Schiavo case. I think it's quite interesting and raises all sorts of ethical, moral, religious, philosophical, and political quagmires. Yes, it's a specific case but so what? She's archetypal. And I'm afraid the left is going to come out of this one looking like heartless shallow selfish soulless impractical sticklers. The right, of course, will come out of it looking like fanatic bullies but since Schiavo will probably die the bullying part will be moot. The fanatic part will probably stick, though, especially after some freak tries to kill the husband or the lawyer or the judge.

Well, I'll see you both sometime soon, I gather. You missed a bone-chilling winter, ya' know.

Love, Randall Leigh
